Card Values and Best Hands

In order to play poker, you need to understand how the game is scored. What truly matters is the combined score of your cards. The best hand is the royal flush, A,K,Q,J,10 all in the same suit. If they are not of the same suit, the highest hand is the straight flush- or five cards in ascending order in the same suit.

Next comes four of a kind, which is four cards of the same number. After that comes a full house, with three of one, two of another. And it moves down from there. To learn more about the scoring of different hands, check out this site.

Placing Bets during Poker

Then the betting will continue in rounds, during which the players will call or raise the bet. Whoever wins the hand takes the “pot” and might even win some rakeback.
